With 20 years experience in the Veterinary industry, John, the founder of MyPetcard set out to challenge the financing of pet care. He created an affordable alternative solution to pet insurance which benefits owners and their pets and MyPetCard was born.

With over 20 years of experience in the veterinary industry, John, Founder of MyPetCard saw an opportunity to transform how pet care is financed. He was driven by a mission to disrupt the cost of traditional pet care. The result was MyPetCard, an innovative and affordable alternative designed to empower pet owners while ensuring pets receive the care they deserve.
Having seen first-hand the problems pet owners and Vets have with insurance companies and the pet owners who couldn’t afford the cost of insurance, John, armed with a degree in dogged determination, has created a solution that will ease the burden of pet expenses.
His passion for innovation and dedication to improving the lives of pets and their owners led to the creation of MyPetCard. As the ‘Head of Treats’, John ensures that every aspect of the service reflects his commitment to quality care and customer satisfaction. Under his leadership, MyPetCard has big dog ambitions to become the No1 trusted partner for pet owners across the UK, offering benefits that go beyond financial savings.
Sonya Cunningham
Commercial Director
Sonya Cunningham is a prominent figure in the fintech industry, known for her expertise in delivering innovative financial services and transforming global banking systems. She has worked at the forefront of designing and driving changes in the financial sector, from open banking to embedded finance and the regulatory frameworks underpinning future opportunities.
Sonya’s career includes senior positions at EY, FIS, and RBS, where she led high-profile programs to incubate and integrate fintech solutions. Sonya is also recognized for her contributions to global financial service ecosystems, including her involvement in events like Finance of Tomorrow, which focused on fostering collaboration and innovation in financial services.
Currently in a long term partnership with Coco, her 5 year old Havanese dog, her constant companion and cheerleader as she travels the country competing with horses or when she is working from home. Servant to Colin the 12 year old cat who joined her from the local cat shelter as a rescue kitten with an intolerance to cat food! Nursed up to become a healthy productive mouser.
Viki Mendelssohn
Marketing Director
With more than 25 years of experience in Public Relations and Marketing, Viki has built her career around helping brands tell their stories, connect with audiences, and achieve measurable impact. Over the past two decades, she has worked across sport, legal, food & drink, construction, property to lifestyle and charities—crafting campaigns that not only raise visibility but also strengthen reputations.
Viki brings strategic thinking, creative energy, and a results-driven approach. She has led high-profile launches, managed sensitive reputation challenges, and built long-term communications strategies that align with business objectives. Viki balances big-picture vision with hands-on execution working with senior leaders, entrepreneurs, and organisations looking to grow their profile in competitive markets.
Collaboration is at the heart of her work. Whether advising on messaging, media relations, or digital engagement, she has always thrived on building meaningful relationships—with clients, journalists, and stakeholders alike.
Outside of the office, Viki is a devoted animal lover with a particular love of dogs. She has two four-legged companions, Cuillin the Hungarian Viszla & Kanga the Whippet. She is also an active supporter of the Dogs Trust.
