How your MyPetCard account works
Your MyPetCard account is a dedicated way to set aside money for your pet’s health and wellbeing — with smart features that put you in control.
You open a MyPetCard account
You then receive a prepaid Visa card, restricted to vet-related spending.
You fund it monthly
Add money via Open Banking. You choose the amount — starting from a minimum of £20/month.
You pay a flat monthly fee
To help save money and care for your pet with our great money saving benefits we only charge £3.99 a month plus a small loading fee of 50p per transaction.
You will receive your card in the post
Use your MyPetCard to pay for vet bills, medication and and any other vet related treatments.
You can track everything online
Check your balance, view transactions, and manage your top-ups in your secure online account area.
Funds are protected for your pet
Your card is restricted to spending on veterinary care.

The money in your MyPetCard account is yours
You decide when and how much to spend on your pet’s care without relying on third-party approval or claims processes. If you don’t need to use your full balance, it stays on your MyPetCard for future care — and if you close your account, we’ll return your remaining funds. Decide how much you can afford to pay into your account each month.
This should be a manageable amount that you can keep up with throughout the year.
As a general rule we recommend a minimum of:
- £20-£30 for small dogs and cats
- £30-£40 for medium dogs
- £40-£60 for large dogs
- £60-£80 for very large dogs
If your pet is currently insured you can still join MyPetCard to build a savings pot for future use. We recommend you pay approximately 60% of your monthly premium into your account.
